Smooth Firewall Heater Hoses?

I Completely Smoothed Out The Firewall On My 69 C10 and Mounted a Heater Under The Dash.

How Did You Guys Go About Hiding Your Heater/AC Hoses?

Thanks

that is all about placement...run them as low as possible and exit near the frame rail, then route along the rail.

Pass the hoses through the firewall into the engine compartment in the footboard area.. Route the hoses upward between the inner fender and outer fender.. Pass the hoses under the battery tray and connect them to the engine.. The only exposure would be the open area between the battery tray and the engine..

Agreed - that is a slick move.
68Charger
- how did the inside heater install go? Post photos if you can.
- I'm contemplating the same thing. I want to install an in-cab heater to clean up the engine bay. No need for AC with the factory footwell vents, but heat is nice and the stock heater is a monster.
Thanks.

Re: Smooth Firewall Heater Hoses?

I Haven’t Installed It Yet But Highly Recommend Doing It. I Bought The Vintage air 506101. Small and Compact. Not Sure How Loud It Will Be Inside but I Dont Really Care.. I ll Modify The Factory Controls To Fit The Vintage Air Knobs..

The Mounting Brackets Are 1 Inch Flat Bar I Welded To The Firewall. Didn’t Wanna Drill Holes In It. Bolted The Flat Bar To The Back Of The Heater, Added a 90 Degree Bend, Kept It Long and Trimmed It Till It Fit Perfect.

Took Me Half An Hour. My Bulkhead Comes Tmrw n I ‘ll See How I Wanna Go About Routing The Hoses.

To Smooth The Firewall I Took a Piece Of Poster Board, Got a Rough Outline Of The Raised Portion Where The Heater Box Would Sit and Traced It Onto 16 Gauge Steel. Cut It To Fit Really Nice, Got a Friend To Mark The Existing Holes On The Inside Of The Cab, Added a Few More and Bolted It Into Place.

I Drilled Through The 16 Gauge, Cut The Heads Off Some 5/16 Bolts, Welded Then Flush With The Panel and Smoothed It Out. Adhesived It and Tightened The Bolts Down.

Took Me Just Over an Hour But The Firewall Looks Awesome n Saved So Much Time Welding.

I ll Post Some More Pics Tmrw Night
