where does this go

just saw this on another thread im putting my truck together and i have the piece on the left no idea what it is or where it goes please help

thats the center support that goes under the hood latch and attaches to the grill

the two right pieces are what is riveted to the aluminuim grill band also

lol i get it now i didnt take the two pieces off my grill but i guess i took the center out 2 yrs ago just forgot what it was for thanks do i have to use it my grill is modified dont know if it will fit now

usally when you get a junkyard or used grill they are there , if you get a new grill , you will have to mount the mounting flanges on the band/grill

i have the side pieces on but when i made my grill insert i did not know about the center piece now my grill is done can i get away without using the center piece

The center support keeps the grill from warping over time from the stress of the hood pushing down and pulling up on the center of the grill as wind catches it, if you aren't going to put the center support back in at the very least you need to fabricate a long backing plate and bolt it in under the top rail of the grill to give it some strength so it doesn't warp the grill over time.

The other idea is if you don't want to go through all the hassle and expense of fabricating a backing plate out of aluminum you can just bolt the center support back in.

ya i will have to trim a little mesh but i think it will go back in lol just wish i knew what it was long time ago i have been moving that piece around my garage for months not knowing what it was for should have asked when i came across it live and learn
