TH350 Swap?

What all do I need to swap from a 3speed manual to a 3speed automatic? IIRC, both of the transmissions are the same arent they?

Re: TH350 Swap?

You'll need an auto tranny crossmember and a column out of an auto truck (unless you wanna floor shift the auto). You'll also need a radiator with a tranny cooler in it. That's not a complete list (since I haven't actually had to do this swap) but it's what I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: TH350 Swap?

auto trans crossmember and trans mount
auto column with linkage (column to trans)
Billsbowtie has those for sale
kickdown bracket for intake/carb and kick down cable
vacuum modulator line(steel) , hose and vacuum port nipple
trans cooler (aftermarket) or radiator with built in cooler but I recommend the aftermarket trans cooler
auto trans flex plate and bolts
trans dust shield
recommend new U-Joints while drive shaft is out
Plus the auto trans bell housing bolts
that should be it

Re: TH350 Swap?

Thanks for the help guys, but forget all that. I'll have to find a 4speed.

Re: TH350 Swap?

Yea...it may seem like alot of work, but really....there isn't much to change. The biggest PITA for me was cutting out that danged crossmember that couldn't be any closer to the cab. I'm only into my auto trans swap about $400, minus the $6 quarts of trickshift.
