Who here gets really mad when they see a nice car get totalled in a movie?

Iv gotten soo mad at movie, like on to fast too furious when they use that 71 Monte as demo car, I had to be told by friends to sit down and shut up. I l know most times they dont wreck the actual cars, but the ones they are wrecking usualyy are fixable too. I just think someone loved and cherised that car, then the ovie company buys it and just blows it up, rolls it, crashes it, fills it full of bullets etc, I know theres better things to care about in this world but this still gets me angry too

I too get mad p.o.'d about that. I always think to myself that these cars and trucks don't grow on trees and that the movie industrie is just making it harder and harder to find these cars by wrecking them just to get a shot.
What I wonder is how many of those cars did they destroy before they got the shot right?

I agree. Wife & the kids think I'm nuts when I yell at the TV when they trash a nice old car/truck.
There is a Used car lot near me that lately they have been having some cars of the '60's - '70's for sale. Look like brand new too. I know there is a 69 and 70 Mustang looks like the MACH 1's, 2 or 3 Chargers, 80 or 81 Z-28, and a 50ish Chevy pickup not sure exactly what year but looks like a 52 - 54, and some others.

For anyone in / near St. Louis and interested, this lot is on St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann.

I used to have a 67 GTO new off the lot when I came back from Vietnam..paid cash ($3600)...traded it in 72 and regretted it ever since..then I saw Triple XXX with Vin Diesel and almost cried whent they destroyed that one..

And what about that 'Vette in "ConAir"?

It used to bother me when I saw older vehicles getting wrecked for the sake of entertainment, but not really anymore. If they have the money to buy them, they can do whatever they want with them...just like all of us. I am sure there are people (purist) who look at what we do to our vehicles and say "They are ruining a perfectly good <insert vehicle type here>".

lmfao. This is funny stuff. I guess the one consolation the dead car has is that at least they were featured in a major motion picture when they went outwith a bang and didnt just rust away in somebodys back yard.

I always used to get a little peeved seeing the Charger and Mustang in Bullitt get messed up. But compared to nowadays, that's nothing! Like in the Fast And The Furious, they completely destroyed that beautiful Charger at the end! That made me so mad. At least when Bullitt was made, those cars were brand new, so it wasn't like they were super rare or anything.

How about the General Lee? I once saw a pic of an 18 wheeler with a trailor full of wrecked Genaral Lee's.

This has always bothered me. 'Couldn't you have made that point with a Taurus or something?'

Same goes for the arse holes who think it's cool to destroy a Gibson on stage.

i still get tears in my eyes when the 55 sedan gets rolled at the end of american graffitti , yeah i know it was a stunt car and not as nice as the one they drove in the movie , which by the way was also the 2 lane blacktop car , but still it was in good shape , i was watching the dvd the other day and george lucas was talking about how they had to come back like seven times because they could not get the car to roll , if you watch the movie you see the guy hit the brakes and brake lights flash to get it to slide , everytime i watch it im thinking to myself , dont hit the brakes , dont hit the brakes ,, one of these days ill be watching and he wont tap them and falfah will finally take the deuce ,, lmao or at least i like to think so

There was that red 55 nomad that Tim Allen dropped a huge steel beam on in Home Improvment. I guess the only way to stop it with a car you own. Would be to have a contract for when you sell a car that the new owner or future owners can never purposely destroy the car in anyway. Kind of like how a gas station on one corner can build a new station on the other corner and sell the old property with the condition that it can never be a gas station again (no compition).

Sold a '69 Dodge Charger R/T S/E to the "Dukes of Hazard" back in 1980 for $500. They launched it! Wish I would have kept it now.

Saw "Wrong Turn" the other night and the 67-68 Mustang they wrecked into the Land Rover. Since it was filmed for present time, they could've easily used an import.

I loved in 2f2f how they took all the real cars and trashed them, then kept all the imports pristine. ugh.

What about the 72 long bed they drove off a cliff in Groundhog Day? They did pull the engine and tranny out, but it was still a good looking truck before it exploded.

Me too, especially the original. I've always like the 71-73 Mach 1's.
