front swaybar....what a difference !!!

Just finished installing a front bar I removed from a 3/4 ton 70....have read many posts concerning what a difference they make...however until you put one on and actually feel the difference, there is just no way to describe it...kinda nice to be able to take a corner and not feel like you are in the 3rd turn @ Talladega !!!

I agree Frisky,
I was surprised at how well my truck handled for 1970 technology.
Then Ii crawled underneath and saw the big honkin swaybar!

can i use the sway bar from my 3/4 ton on my 1/2 ton??? do i need to buy anything to mke it fit?

sean.....My bar came off of a 70 3/4 ton....bolted up w/o a problem...didnt have to modify anything to make it fit

My GMC don't have one at all...really sucks in the corners.
Not that that slows me down...I'm kinda suprised I have not ripped the door handles off the way I take corners in that pig.

i have one off a 70 3/4 ton sitting in my garage, i think im gonna make that one of my winter projects...the thing is, its missing one of the brackets/bushings, and i dont really see any holes on my truck for it....did you have to drill new ones or what?

The lower A-arms should have a pair of holes already there for the mounting brackets....the front of the bar will bolt to the front crossmember (there is probably a rivet there now) and I believe the other hole is there already as well.

Put one on my lowered truck, it raised it up 1/2 an inch. I can live with that! The handling is awesome now and theres no bouncy bouncy after any bumps now

there is 1 selling on ebay right now...i think it was @ $80...but you could probably score 1 @ a yard for half that

I'd hit the local junkyards before paying $80 for one. I bought one for $10 bucks!

Also, the same sway bar was used up to about '87 on the 3/4 ton trucks so you should be able to take your pick of what color truck you take it from in almost any yard.

I recently bought one from a guy on the board for $20. Still not installed but will be soon. I hope it cures the "leaning" around corners.

Here is the e-bay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...871698744&rd=1 . Someone paid $133.50 for a 1-1/8 bar with all mounting brackets. Great sell for Kilomanjaro but I don't see a board member paying that much. I know Brad has been trying to sell some for around $60 and have gotten no takers. I have several 1-1/4 bars I have gotten at the local pull-a-part for around $10 each. Looks Like I might have to go e-baying.

Yeah, I've still got mine. $20 from yard, $20 to ship usually, driving time, labor to pull; I think $70/$60 is fair for the 1-1/4 and 1-1/16 bars. Of course you can save $ by pulling it yourself if you can find one.
