Raty 69

G,day all, names Dustin and i thought id throw up a thread of my Chev.
New to this site and the world of C-10s, had mine bout 3 months now and it went from a just get it on the road to a full rebuild.

Want to keep the body looking like it is, all Ratty. keep it rat rod styling.

Plans are, rebuild the chassis and all running gear. put in 454, Hopefully making 600hp.... One day, th400 stage 2 shift kit 3000 stall, 9 inch 4.11 gears. 5 stud convo, disc brake convo all round. Drop it on its guts.

Heres some pics from when i got it, its just a set of rails in the shed now, hope fully getting the chassis blasted in the next week, so i can hopefully start rebuilding the chassis soon. Cut the rust out of the floor just waiting to get some repair panels from the USA.

Re: Raty 69

Welcome to the site, looks like a fun project, with a tach dash to boot.
I put a Lincoln 9" in my 69 and I love it. Make sure on the conversion you up size the yoke on the third member to one that uses the chevy truck U-joint so that it can handle the stress. A lot of 9" were for lighter car chasis and had smaller yokes which when put on a 5000 pound truck seem to fail quickly.

Dustin, Yeah you gotta break the habit of being slack on pics! we love projects with pics.
My Lincoln rear end was about $2500 when all complete. and that is not counting the $400 in drive shaft work I had to do to since the third member is shorter than the Chevy diff and my two piece shaft needed to be stretched by three inches. Good call on sticking with the 12 bolt, I would have stayed with the Dana 60 if it was not 8 lug. But there is just not enough wheel choices that I liked.

Re: Raty 69

Gday all, thought it was about time i updated my thread. sorry its a bit to read, hope it makes sense. anyways here gos!
I got the chassis and front cross member sand blastered and then i painted them. I stripped the A arms and some steering components with wire wheels, took forever then painted them.
I have put some money down on a 454HO crate motor from Eagle Auto Parts, so i will hopefully have that payed off sooner rather than later. Also Ordered a 5 lug 13'' disc brake kit for the front (has 2inch drop spindles), 5 lug disc kit for the rear, th400 cross member, front sway bar kit, lowered 2 inch front springs and shocks, 4 inch lowered rear springs with 2 inch blocks and shocks to suit. So a total 4/6 drop. Hopefully get them in the next week.
Got most of the goodies to rebuild the front end (new tie rods, ball joints etc).
The Cab Repair sections came from the states, dont have any room to fix the cab at this minute because i have turned my shed in to a temp spray booth to paint all the parts. Theres Stuff everywhere!! Haha. Once there all painted ill rip down the booth and start putting the chassis together and wheel it out to do the cab.
I have decided to put all moser guts in the diff. Nearly all the coin from the sale of my 4wd is gone so ill have to start saving for that Lucky ill save money on panel work and paint ay
Anyways heres the jucie stuff..... Pics!

Re: Raty 69

Hi Raty,

I'm in Highett and bought a '67 GMC in March. I've got no plans to go to the lengths you are obviously into, but will watch your progress with interest. I also have a 6 bolt set-up but only have four wheels and am chasing a spare. Got any lying around you'd like to get rid of?

If so, please ring me on 9502-3227.

Regards from Down Under.

Re: Raty 69

G'day,

I'd like to give a big "Thank You" to Raty for giving me one of his 6 stud wheels for my '67 GMC, it came without a spare. His truck is in a million bits, but from what I've seen, it will be a force to be reckoned with once it's on the road.

I've had the tyre removed, and when I feel up to it, I'll wire brush and paint it and fit a tyre to it. I had a double hernia op last Friday, so can't do much at the moment, but should be able to do light work in a week or so.

Regards from Down Under.

Re: Raty 69

G'day all! Haven't really done much to the truck in a while I have scraped the 454 because looking at what it costs to have 800hp + is steep and I don't have that kind of coin Stupid me should of thought about that in the first place haha plus you can only drive 60 miles the most down here. So I have decided to go back to what I originally wanted to do... Bag it. Has got me more motivated to work on be cause it will cost me less and I love mini trucks! Cheers all.

That's why I am a big fan of taking it slow and letting your mind work out the details of your project so you get the end result you have in your head. If you rush into things you end up doing things over again.
Can't wait to see it bagged!
I'm digging the "Hot Rod Shop" sign over your garage.
