is your insurance company doing this?
another hand salute to USAA
Returning $520M in auto insurance premiums Dear Fellow Member‚ We know the COVID‐19 pandemic is having a financial impact, and we're taking action to ease the burden. Every member with an auto insurance policy in effect as of March 31, 2020, will receive a 20% credit on two months of premiums in the coming weeks. All told, we're returning about $520 million. We're able to pass on those savings because your efforts to stay home during the pandemic have meant fewer drivers on the road, which means fewer accidents and claims. You will receive a credit applied to your bill. There is no need to call or take any action. For more details on the premium credit, please click here. This is your association and we remain strong thanks to your service and loyalty. As a result, we are able to share our financial strength by giving back each year and in times of need. In 2019, we returned almost $2.4 billion in the form of distributions, dividends, and bank rebates and rewards. This credit is one of the many ways we're helping members deal with the pandemic's financial impacts, from offering special payment assistance to waiving late fees. You can learn more about other ways we can help at usaa.com/coronavirus. Thank you for doing your part to keep our communities safe during this crisis, whether you're serving on the front lines of the pandemic or staying at home. Our mission is to serve you and your family. It has been USAA's North Star since our founding in 1922. Respectfully‚ Wayne Peacock Chief Executive Officer

Re: is your insurance company doing this?
I haven't received notification from the company yet, but I read on the news that State Farm is returning 25% of premiums from April and May.

I got a similar email from The Hartford yesterday, 15% payback on two month's premiums.

Wow! That's impressive of USAA and State Farm!
I checked my insurance company PEMCO and found we will receive a 15% credit discount for April, May and June. Good business decisions for sure. |

Re: is your insurance company doing this?
Yeah, I just got notified that Farmer's is rebating us 25% for April. Maybe also in the following months as the situation progresses. Funny thing is, I started a new job in December and overall, between having to drive my daily to Salt Lake and back every day (100 miles +-) and driving the company truck pretty much full time at work, I'm probably driving more than before.
And because I'm basically cynical, and knowing how insurance companies (in general) love to pay out, I offer this question: Will they raise homeowner policy rates? After all, to use their own logic-more people at home, either working from or quarantined to, is bound to create more claims on those policies.

Re: is your insurance company doing this?
Mine is giving us a 30% discount/rebate for April and May. Shelter Insurance is who I've been with for over 20 years.

Re: is your insurance company doing this?
Geico, sent me an email that I would receive a 15% discount my next renewal. I think that must mean for the year since I pay yearly.
