Re: Turbo 350

There was a th350 and a th350c. The th350c is a lockup transmission at quickly identified by the electrical plug on the driver side. Other than that a th350 is a th350.

Re: Turbo 350

Ok thanks, honistly i cant remember if i read that or if someone told me that. I also recalled that someone told me there was a heavy duty truck (possibly 4X4) transmission as opposed to a car version, guess thats not true also..

Re: Turbo 350

There are differences in the amount of clutches used in certain transmissions. for example a 6 cylinder transmission has less clutches in it than a v8 transmission but 99% of the time when the transmission is rebuilt the clutches will be added by the rebuilder so its pretty much a non issue.

Re: Turbo 350

usually the biggest differences you find betweed th350's (the 2wd ones that is) is the tail housing length. there's a 6" tail housing and a 9" tail housing. and the tail housings really only matter when you are swapping transmissions and needing the right length of drive shaft for the tranny. i think that the 9" version is the same length as the th400 and the 700r4 trannies if i remember correctly

Thanks for the info! didn't know know it was possible to add or remove clutchs, i'm assuming you might be refering to the amount of clutch disks and seperator plates within each clutch pack?

Yep, i knew there was different tail housing lengths, wouldn't have a clue on the applications tho.

Re: Turbo 350

yea some had the B,O,P, that would bolt to a chevy, buick, pontiac, or olds and some were bop only. as well as most chevy only. The lockups started around 79-81 or so and went to I think 86-88 or so, long tails were mostly trucks from the 70's and 80's from what I've seen and some cars I guess could, but there is also a 12 inch tail, never seen one of them though but they are out there. I got a 9 inch tail in the yard that came out of dad's 84 but was non lockup, and he's got a short tail in it now.
