Re: cool ebay auction - Vette Vet, take a look
Thanks Tynee, assuming you're referring to me.
It can't be mine as mine is in the garage waiting to go back into it's 1974 owner. I can't say that isn't a genuine corvette engine but I don't see anything that proves that it is. The casting numbers are also listed for the 68 SBC 350. I have some questions just from looking at the pics. Why the moroso valve covers? Why the HEI distributor? and why is the deck picture blurred when the vette codes are stamped there? The intake looks aftermarket also. If he's an NCRS member he would know stuff like that and he would have explained why the wrong stuff was on the engine. My number 1 question is why go to the trouble of listing it on E-Bay and only letting the original owner bid. The whole thing makes no sense. There are better ways to track down old vettes than this. I'm glad you got my attention anyway. Thanks again.VV

Re: cool ebay auction - Vette Vet, take a look
Well, you were the first Vette guy I could think of, other than a couple of twin brothers I graduated from Highschool with who drove a CHEvette.
I kinda thought this was a cool idea, and couldn't see an angle where this was a scam. I just figured he was trying to use the exposure generated by an eBay ad to try and find the original car. I guess biggest question is why go to the trouble? The only reasons I can think of for pulling the original motor are 1) the original body was wrecked or rusted beyond repair, or 2) you wanted to race the original car, so you threw a different power plant in it. Either way, it doesn't seem like you'd ever get the original car and motor back together. Oh well, I suppose there are lots of reasons I'm not considering.

Wow, I feel better now that I know this is not one of my neighbors. Someone who should box his computer up and take it back to the store.
