My updated truck pics. Opinions wanted

After having my truck for the last 5 months i have went form the first pictures to the last few. I stuck here and really dont know which direction to go with the paint. And what would be the best way to get the trim off on the driver cab corner and the coustom 10 trim. Give any opinions on what yall think of the truck and what i should do.

Re: My updated truck pics. Opinions wanted

nice looking truck, I'm torn as to if I like the trim or not on it.. I like both pics.. might post this on the photoshop forum on this board, and they can do some wonders with paint and such.. give you some great ideas..

the custom/10 trim is bolted on the inside of the fender, either remove the fender, but I think you may be able to reach it if you remove the inner fender wells, but I dont remember..

Hensonjd, I like it better without the trim, and the paint doesn't look too bad. You could call Mike and see what he thinks about shooting it or buffing it out and clear coating. I don't know enough about painting to answer that. Sweet looking truck though. Love the chrome wheels and that maroon paint, they go good together.

Re: My updated truck pics. Opinions wanted

Ditch the trim.

The lines of these trucks were marred (in my opinion) by the norm of the day that said they had to be decked out with all that shiny stuff. We were a different society back in the '60's, than we are today. If you were going for a restored ride, then the trim would be okay, but not if it is modified....again my opinion.

As for the trim, I saw some that a local guy had buffed out after stripping off the anodizing, then used some tripoli compound, followed by a polishing on the wheel. It was beautiful!

The maroon paint on your truck looks similar to the Honduras Maroon that was on my '64 Bonneville ragtop. I like it. I'd be looking for some knock-off's for the wheels...if it was mine.

Cab corner trim is held on with a nut on the inside the cab. If not with a nut it's glued on. I like the trucks without trim and I too have a couple of sets of it if interested for a LWB truck.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: My updated truck pics. Opinions wanted

You asked for opinions, so here goes I really like lowered trucks without the trim, it looks more streamlined and doesn't take away from the original curves our trucks have (gotta love those curves). So that being said I would remove the trim. It could be the camera angles, but it looks like the hood's paint needs some work and I take it you will fill in the trim holes so throw some new paint on it. Lastly, in the last picture, once again it could be the angle of the picture, but I would drop the front end another 1-2". Lastly, throw some tint on the windows and you have my dream truck. Of course, that is only my opinion and that is what makes these trucks so great is that two people can take the same truck and with a few grand build two completely different trucks to their own preferences. By the way, like the first set of wheels, love the new ones.

Re: My updated truck pics. Opinions wanted

Yea i was thinking about lowering the truck in the front a lil more also. It has a 3 and 5 inch drop now that i did with coil springs so i really dont know how to achieve the rest of the drop. Here is an off the wall question. How do you go about taking the steering wheels off?

I think your truck would look great with a one piece window kit.

The steering wheel - pop off you horn button, unscrew the large nut, use steering wheel puller to pop the wheel off.

looking good. as far as the steering wheel. remove the horn button and any associated nuts. you then attach a steering wheel puller to remove. you should be able to borrow a wheel puller from the local auto supply for a deposit.

Here is a link to a break down photo of the steering wheel/column. It might help you know what you are looking at when you take it off.

Without the trim, it looks cleaner to me. IMO I like the busy look of a Cheyenne but stock, with those wheels on a lowered truck and that paint, loose the trim. Looks good I like it.

The truck looks very good. Trim off.

I noticed in these 2 pics that your front tires are on the wrong side of the truck (rolling the wrong way). The arrow that the tread makes is supposed to point to the front of the truck when looking down at the top of the tire. (they also have an arrow on the side wall telling you wich way they roll.) Your backs are rolling the right way. They are directional and if rolling the right way they will force water out from under the tire to help keep from hydroplaining. I used to change tires for 6 years. Can't help but to pull up to a light and look at the tires on the car next to me.

Just swap the fronts side to side.

Oh, nice looking camero back there
