My 72 K10 4x4 swb

I grew up with the 67-72 chevy pickups and blazers in my family and have always loved them. I drove my dads 72 K5 blazer 4wd and 71 c10 2wd lwb in highschool. I bought his 71 and spent a lot of time and money into it but eventually lost interest. I've always wanted a 4wd shortbed and kept my eyes open for a good starter project. I came home from work one day and noticed an ad in the local paper, a guy 50 miles north had two identical trucks for sale 72 swb 4wd manuals for $2500 ea. Ad was a week old and I figured they were gone. I called him up and he still had them so we headed out. He had bought them from two local brothers that bought them new in 72. One was in rough shape but ran strong, the other was in great shape but mechanic said the cam was worn and it wouldn't run. After the other projects I've had I told him I want the one with the least body work So I talked him into $2200 and loaded it up. After I paid him he finally told me he picked them up for $800 a piece!!
I still felt good about the buy. Because of my job I only made it home two days a month and the truck sat for 6 yrs til two weeks ago. So far I've had the radiator repaired, put in a new heater core, 94 amp alternator , brakes, and fresh fluids. The timing was way off and is now set and she actually runs descent but its the original motor so I'm dropping another one in soon.
I'm stoked its going to be on the road soon!

Very nice project, then again I could be a little partial. I have a '71 SWB 4X4 Cheyenne Super the same color (Ochre) with a white top. I just wish mine was a 4-speed.

Re: My 72 K10 4x4 swb

Thanks. Its in great shape. I'm already 10 steps ahead than my other projects started out at. It needs outer rockers and floor patches along the rockers, two cab supports and small patches in the cab corners but for the most part the body is in great shape. Couple seals in the 205 and 4 ujoints and the drivetrain will be solid. I wish it had a/c seeing it gets 115 degrees here but you can't have everything I guess. Gotta love the spotlight
