caddy to chevy 4 wheel drive

What are my options for putting a caddy motor in a chevy 4x4?
Can the tail shaft be taken out of the caddy and be replaced with
a turbo 350 one? Any help would help. Or someone once said something
about a tranny out of a diesel pickup would work? Thanks for any help.

i've done it, you gotta get a pontiac / buick/ olds t350 (shortshaft) and put your 4x4 trans guts in it so the shaft length will be correct, you wont be using the tailshaft portion of the housing good luck

V-6 bells to Caddy motor

I have heard from one person that the Bellhouse from a older Buick V-6 oddfires [225 & 231 CID] will bolt right up to a Caddy motor. They used those engines in 67-72 Jeeps, after 72 Buick bought the rights back for the motors and started putting them in their cars due to the performance and pending gas shortages of the 70's. In mid 77 the switched to an even-fire motor and they where weaker.
Oddfires can be found in mid 70's Chevy Vegas and Buick Skyhawks (Vega copy car) As well as some of the smaller 2 & 4 door Buick Specials. I'm only repeating what I have heard, maybe some other member can comfirm or deny this.
