Rate My Rust or How bad is this.Lots of Pics

On the average what kind of condition is my cab in? Should I bother looking for a new cab or am I in good shape? The inner rockers look good but the outer rockers, cab corners, and above the windshield look rough. give me your opinions. Thanks David

Other than the roof spot most of it is the usual rust prolly needs new floor supports too. door bottoms lookin a little rought too. you could prolly find a cab resonably close that just needs rockers and corners for pretty cheap.

I agree that with that roof line looking that bad you are infor more work than I would want to take on. When it gets that bad in the roof it is even worse down the inside of the pillars!

The roof will be difficult to fix. cab corners/rockers arent a big deal.

Check the cowl under the hood to see how badly that roof leak got into the cowl. If the cowl is good...there might be hope...but rust on both ends is very difficult. Lots of good cabs in the dry southern states.

Re: Rate My Rust or How bad is this.Lots of Pics

i know how to deal with everything except the rust above the windshield. did it have say cab lights or something similar, or a visor on it? The rockers, cab corners, floor pans, are all pretty easy. They are alot of fun too, get you really into it, kinda put more of YOU into your truck. Then again, if your not an up to par welder, its kinda tough. Id say, if you wanna put sometime in, go for it. If you want the easy way out, get to lookin. I did inner and outer rockers, floor pans, cab supports, tranny tunnel, inner and outer door bottoms on my 65. it was fun, kinda a pain, but fun.

Re: Rate My Rust or How bad is this.Lots of Pics

then again, if you get a new cab, you can use this one as a test cab for like testing your new welding skills... for say when you want to shave your handles, marker lights, any little jobs. this could be your practice canvas for car art! that was dumb, im dumb.

I would say get a new cab. I don't know how you could deal with the rust on the roof.

Re: Rate My Rust or How bad is this.Lots of Pics

I vote new cab. After PM Kevin a few times about mine (which has similar rust in the roof) I plan to replace the entire roof. I got a very nice cab top from Uncle so now I just need to finish my garage so I can get started. PM Uncle, he is not too terribly far from you and he should have everything you need. Good Luck!

LMC TRUCK sells panels to fix the roof P/N 38-7978 $99.95 or replace the whole roof, the rest is typical,id save it if you can do it your self. If you send it out to be done it would cost more than buying a different cab.

Re: Rate My Rust or How bad is this.Lots of Pics

it pains me to admit it but i scrapped a cab that ONLY needed rocker panels, and barely at that.

but at the time i had nowhere to keep it.

i wish i had it now

New cab unless you love to weld, and a place to do it.

I'd go with a new cab... and while you are repairing the replacement cab, you won't have to park your truck.

As everyone else said, based on the windsheild area rust, just get another cab

As long as you're still driving that truck, I say find a new cab and get it ready while you still drive that one
