My 1967 C-10 project

On Sat, Mar 30, 2024 at 10:47 AM Alan Barrett <trw4060@gmail.com> wrote my family presides in a community about 10 miles outside of a small town. Most of my neighbors are retired, ancestors of farmers. My closest neighbor, Donald, is the son of a farmer. Mr. A.T. we always called him. Mr. A.T. Bought this truck new in 1967. His son Donald remembers going with his father to purchase a new truck. That day A.T. Wrote a check for $1800 and they drove the new 1967 truck the 20 miles back to the farm. Years later another new 1974 Chevrolet truck replaced the ‘67 and the ’67 was parked on the farm.

The other day Donnie asked me to look at his 2001 F-150. A few codes were read and I figured up a “buddro” estimate to replace coil packs, sparkplugs, and oil change. Donnie acknowledged and told me to get in his truck, saying he wanted to show me something. Donnie took me to an old Oak tree on his land, surrounded with overgrown Chinese Privot. You could barely see an outline of a truck. Donnie said he pulled the old ‘67 there after Mr. A.T. passed away in 1995.

We got a tractor and cleared a path to the front of the old ‘67. After several failed attempts to pull the truck out forward with a 60 horse tractor we borrowed a bigger tractor and picked up the rear of the truck with the front loader and walked the truck backwards to my shop.

My wife, Wanda, is 67 years old and remembers riding in the truck to football games when she was 12 years old. Wanda said the shocks must have been worn out because when they hit a bump their head would almost hit the cab roof!

Stay tuned!!!

Looks like it will be a nice project....and it is always nice to see one getting restored instead of making its way to the junk yard.

It's nice that you're going to save a truck that has that much history to the one's around one.

Wow, looks like a great truck to bring back from the dead. I love builds that have a back story like this.

Re: My 1967 C-10 project

Donnie does not remember his father having any bodywork being done. Did Chevrolet do pre-sales bodywork back then.
