Exhaugst Help.

ok as some of you already know my dad is builder me a 355 for my 77 lwb 2wd. I am tryn to figure out what I want to do with my exhaugst. I already have the pipe size headers and mufflers picked so dont worry its not another one of those polls haha. Im runnng 2.5in. and dual American thunder 40's. My debate is wether to run em straight to the axle and dump right out of the mufflers or header to midway back into mufflers then side exit before the tires. I am after that nasty loud note when i snap the throttle or cruizing, so i am curious if the bend for the side exit will make it cackle at all or sound meaner. Or just dump em. Thanks

Re: Exhaugst Help.

The system will layout much better if you take it back to the Axel.
Just the way the cab floor sits and were you can hang the mufflers, if you tuck them up out of the way the pipe for a side exit will go back towards the front of the truck before you can turn it out to hit the front of the tire.
You will get plenty of noise dumping at the rear axle.
FYI - if you really want an exhaust to cackle you need to decrease the diameter of your exhaust pipe - large diameters adds to a throaty sound - smaller gives you cackle - think 1.75" if you want a great cackle

Re: Exhaugst Help.

Thanks for the advise, and yea I was thinking that tumping it at the axles would be easier cause its all stright. and I yea im going for the nasty throat sound so that why i was thinking 2.5. would 3in hurt damage my motor at all cause of no back pressure with no bends in the pipe?
