Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
I'm looking for one of those keypads that come on the door of a lot of Ford vehicles to unlock the doors without the keys. Not one from a Ford, but one that would work independently of a BCM. Such as advertised by these guys. However, they only sell to distributors yet have no "where to buy" page. If anybody knows someone where to get such a thing, please let me know.

Have you tried contacting them direct and asking for distributors in your area? You might check electronics suppliers in your area, not Radio Shack but a real one. They may have an idea or even offer something like it. I have a couple locally that I go to for hard to find stuff. If they don't have what I am looking for they usually give me a direction. Will keep an eye out.

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
I did find this one that looks pretty good. As in good looking, clean unit. I haven't researched it for reviews or anything though. I just googled for keyless entry systems and a few popped up.

Yeah, I found that one too and I liked it, but it's a little too nice looking and a little too pricey for my application. The ones from that other place looked a little cheaper and that's why I was more interested in thier product. I did send them an email regersing where I could buy their products a couple days ago and I'm still awaiting a response.

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
Did you ever hear back?
I was thinking, uh oh. As far as the number pad is concerned. Most of them work the same way. Find a car that has a style you like. I like the on on my Grand Marquis so is find one being scrapped, take that. Then "just" get the module. Though still have to find the right one, price, interface. I wonder what manufacturer uses a stand alone control module for this. Have you seen any other brands you like? Sorry about my rambling but this would be a cool addition. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
I hated to see this thread die. I had another idea for you. I just had a rental for two days and it had no key, just a key fob with typical controls but also a chip that was recognized that allowed the the vehicle to be unlocked or started as long as it was near, (in my pocket). While driving it I kept on thinking of this thread. I wonder if there is something like that after market that would work for you.

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
I've seen systems like that. I believe My4by2 had one called Guard Dog or something of the sorts put on his truck if you want to find his thread and check it out. They're called "Keyless Ignition" instead of keyless entry. Wouldn't really work for me though, I was wanting to pair it with my toolbox opener.

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
Poke around here:
http://www.controlanything.com/ I thought about a module to prevent my truck from starting unless a particular sequence of events occurred first. With the stuff they list you don't need an old fashioned keypad, just a "fob". |

Here you go:
Combine this with your shaved door handles and don't even bother with a crunchy keypad: (The video is funny/cheesy, but it gets the job done)

Re: Someone help me find a keypad for keyless entry!
You're welcome Ogre. =-)
One can always mount the keypad under the bed rail on a bracket. Seems the beach people like the keypad for the simple fact they can lock keys and all in the car while they hit the water. Alex. |
