Factory Suburban stuff (71 & 72)

Hey guys, it's been a long, long time since I've perused the forums. Anyhoo, I found a guy locally that has a 72 Suburban for sale. He said it goes through oil, is kinda beat up and rusty, needs a mirror, wiper motor, etc. It's got a wothless, tired old 307, a turbo 350 and needs some "tlc". Anyhoo, it's the 3 door with the two part ...tailgate...? style rear doors. He wants $400 dollars for it. I have been scouring the forums here and havent come across a solid answer to a couple questions I forgot to ask him. Of course, it's basic everything. Manual steering and brakes, no a/c, blah blah blah. First off, I am not really looking for a show truck, more something to put a decent engine in and putz around, maybe tow once in a while. Did they switch the half tons over to 5 lug with disc fronts in 71 like the pickups? What are your varying opinions on whether I should pick this old bone up or not? Thanks for lookin!

Just like the trucks, they added disc brakes to the front for 1/2 and 3/4 ton in 71 and 72. So, you could score a 71/72 8lug disc brake or a 71/72 5 lug disc brake Suburban. Everyone will tell you that they could not say without pictures....but, I would pick it up for 400 without thinking twice if it was in my area...

Sorry, I was trying to cram so much information in that initial post, I forgot to mention. It's a 72 2wd 1/2 ton. Blue and white delight. Kinda rusted, kinda beat up, ready for a bit of a freshening.

power brakes were base equipment if memory serves.
4 bills... if it drives, is a no brainer IMO.
