Bed wood Harvest

I found a 71 c10 with a really nice stock wood bed no rot, and the metal stripps and wheel wells have no rust. I want to try and harvest the wood, metal strips, and the wheel wells. The wrecking yard doesnt allow power tools and I dont want to be there two days trying to get this stuff. Any suggestions of which order I should try and remove these? Or ideas of how to do it? Thanks

Could you buy the whole truck and remove at your leisure? Part out the rest or resale once done, to the crusher?

That would be the most fun way to do it

Or just buy the the bed if you don't want the entire truck. it would suck to damage something you want to keep by rushing the removal of the wood in the wrecking yard.

I take my 20v tools to the local junk yard and never had any questions.

the only thing with buying the whole bed is that they are gonna charge alot more

I will have to call tomorrow and see if pick and pull lets cordless tools in.

Don't try to loosen anything. Tighten instead. That will speed up your disassembly time by 90%. you would not imagine how easy it is to twist of an old bolt that is on there as opposed to trying to remove it. Jim

Wringing off the bolts works best,except with wood the tendency is for the bolt to turn in the wood,then you're screwed...I mean still bolted. The best bet would be cutting the nuts off from underneath. < Still talking trucks here

Just use cordless tools and bring a couple of batteries

I take cordless tools into the pick n pull in Portland...I believe they are owned by the same company.

I talked to them they are ok with cordless, and Ive got four batteries. They told me if i remove the wood and strips they will charge me for a bed liner $35. Does anybody have any ideas what order I should take the bed apart? Sides, then front then floor seems like the only way, does that sound right? [I]n the pics you can see very little rust, and no rot. The bed in my truck is rotted through, and the strips are almost gone.

If you insist on diassembling it in the yard your best bet is grind the heads off the bolts and smack them down thru the hole. You have alot of work ahead of you. I've done a few to save or replace wood floor pieces and theres just alot of fasteners and components. Cross sills, wood, strips, fenderwells, front panel.
