Pintle hooks...............best way to mount 'em?
Found an old pintle hook and wanted to put it on my truck 'cause I pull stuff all the time but I don't know how to mount it. Does anybody have pics or info about installing these? Does it take a specific bumper to mount 'em? I've got a stupid a$$ f0rd bumper on the truck right now but I have the old diamond plate step bumper I could re-install.
Thanks

If you have a class 3/4 reciever, they make a slide-in bracket to mount pintles. That is the only way I have seen then other than on the rear frame of a military vehicle.

usually they mount to a slide on for a regular reciever hitch. only trucks i have seen em different is military trucks and dump trucks where they bolt directly to a steel plate thats welded to the frame.

Thanks for the fast response, I'll have to check prices on recievers then. The hook I have bolts flat to whatever, it's pretty big. I don't know if I could modify it to work with a reciever or not.
Found a pic of one on eBay that looks almost like the one I have:

Yep, cableguy hit the nail on the head. The F250 SD that I had in Tampa had the same setup. We pulled a 500 gallon suck tank with it on occasion !!

my truck has one of those bolted to the stock bumper, the farmer that was the p/o claimed to tow tractors on a trailer behind the truck with that setup. other than the bumper, there are two pieces of bar stock that go from the bumper to the frame. nice and safe....yep.
