67-72 windshield

Are the windshields the same on the 67-72's? I need to get a new one for my son's truck and the crackers down here want $525 installed.

Try MotherTrucker. He's on the board here. He quoted me a real good price once.
The glass is all the same 67 thru 72. Where it differs is Deluxe windshield grommets [rubbers] have a groove for strips of chrome trim. I think that differs between early and late (not sure of year break). Standard grommets are the same I think.

Thanks Guys! After I posted this I found a place in Va Bch that I can pick one up at for $157 no shipping and no tax. Then I can get someone local to do the install. I really hate doing windshields myself!

Sounds like your local "crackers" are used to dealing with insurance and not real people.
Good deal. You would pay that much at least in shipping plus the part anyway. If you get it done locally you have the best quality control. And if it leaks, you can make them fix it.

Many glass places pay like $50. for the windshield wholesale--they come from Mexico and are a bit smaller then stock. You can typically buy a new one at a large swap meet for $99. The pain in the butt in the install expecially if you want the stainless trim installed with the delux rubber. You also will want to prep the old windshield frame real good before any install. I use POR 15 to coat the frame metal after cleaning any leftover gunk out of there. You want the frame smooth with no rough surfaces so the rubber will lay flat.
Often if you explain that this is NOT an insurance deal, glass places will do a glass/install for under $200. Insist on a no leak guarantee as I think these trucks were designed to leak.
Talk nice to them--look pitiful, borrow a cane, hobble in~~~~.

Hey ALbie,
I just had a windshield put in my 69 chevy p/u, and it cost me 175.00 installed that was from a company called Glass Masters here locally in Toledo! I hope there is a company close to you that wont try to take advantage of you like the one you described!!!!
Good luck,
