Phase one complete!

Hello All,

I thought I'd let you know that after a bit of trouble with my new engine (had a cracked cylinder head) it's all together and running! I have almost 300 miles on it and what a difference from my old v6... I just wanted to thank all those who provided great tips and information. As I have more work to still get done I'm sure I'll be asking more questions... Enjoy!

Just looked at the Blazer I'm getting and noticed it had the center bolt valve covers. I was told it was a GM crate motor. What year did they start with those valve covers. Also would I order the same headers to fit the 72 Blazer? Do these heads require a different intake? Does anyone make a good looking set of valve covers for these engines? Not that the factory ones don't look good. Thanks for any info.

I believe and someone correct me if I'm wrong it was either '86 or '87 that the heads changed in regards to the two center intake bolts. As for the valve covers I'm not sure if they coincided with the change in heads or not. I used Hedman hedders and just told the guy a 68 gmc with a small block. They bolted right up, but they do hang below the frame rails...

Thanks. Mine's 4WD so hanging a little low is not a problem.
