Shortening a bed
Well, I got another truck. I shortened the frame to a SWB but the bed is still a LWB. I am going to cut the bed to make it the same as a SWB has anybody done this before? and how hard was it?

It's hard. Lot of cutting and welding. Easiest to cut between front bed panel and wheelwell, straightest area. It's easier if you have a wood floor. Pain in the ass to weld all them metal humps in the floor back together. Mark everything off really well and straight. Measure MANY MANY TIMES and check the straighness of your cuts. I suggest using a cut off wheel or plasma cutter and grinder to clean the cuts up. DON'T USE A TORCH. It will warp the metal and will not cut evenly at all. Then clamp and weld away! If your not good at cutting and welding you can purchase brand new GM certified bedsides from Goodmark Industries, and use your tailgate, wheelhumps, front bed panel...etc. Good luck!

I assume you are talking about the bedfloor and not the bedsides.
I shortened a bedfloor, check this thread for pics of it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...2&page=1&pp=25 |
