Eliminating Circuit Board Dash - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Has anybody "straight wired" their dash and eliminated the circuit board? I am running a new EZ wire harness and having trouble getting the circuit board to work. I have thought about just putting 2 wire light bulb sockets in and running the 2 wires for each gauge. Would this be better than the circuit board? If anybody has done this would you post pics if possible. Im curious as to which bulb sockets I would need and how it is working.

You could wire everything straight without the board. That's how all the newer gauges are wired when you go that route. All the circuit board does is get rid of the extra wires.

I've done that on mine. The circuit board thing makes a nice pattern to just trace out the wires.

I rewired my stock one but had to trace out the wires from the harness. Had way too Many cuts in my harness. Bought a new circuit board and the stock
Stuff works good now that the wires are going to where they need to be for good signal to the gauges. I also had to add a strait wire to ground from the board as well to make sure it was reading correct. Wiring individually is going to be a pain but can be done.

I've done several this way, I use a modified electric speedo so the printed circuit won't work. here's a few pics, and the thread about the speedo that has some info on what others have used for light sockets and such. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=512751

Wiring individually is going to be a pain but can be done. __________________ 72 3/4 ton blazer. 5 inch lift on 35 inch tires. 355 corvette engine with crane roller rockers, rv cam, edelbrock carb and intake with one inch spacer. Thrush Headers with flowmaster 40 duels. 4speed sm465 manual. 4 wheel disk brakes with Inboarded rear shock prerunner style mounts and shocks.
