Smaller Temp Sensor In Head - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was about to swap my temp sensor tonight and I noticed that the one there now is a 5/8 socket and my replacement is a 13/16.
This is my motor
10066036...350...........2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico"

I thought that there was a post on that before. If it is the smaller one what year and make/ model of gm vehicle will get me the right one.

I ran into this problem a few months ago. I was unable to find a temperature sensor that had the correct resistance to run the gauge correctly. I ended up installing a water neck from an early 80s sedan that had a hole in the top of it where I was able to install my temperature sensor.

Well I found one that is the 5/8th size but instead of a button its a spade.

Does it have the correct resistance? I found some that are that size in 70s and 80s vehicles, but the resistance is too high, so the temperature gauge doesn't move at all. I tried calling a couple manufactures of these sensors to see if they could look up the resistance values of some smaller sensors, but they were unwilling to help me. If you find one that works, please let me know what the manufacturer and part number is. I think it looks ugly to have the temperature sensor sticking out of the water neck. Plus it seems better to me to measure the temperature in the head since that's where all the heat is coming from in the first place.
