Score!
Got a Furd Taurus two-speed fan at the Nashville U-Pull-It yesterday for $15 with a 30-day warranty. This one was laying on top of the engine with the hood partially closed. All I had to do was cut the wires (so I'd have the pigtail). Checked it out when I got home and it works great, and MAN does this thing move some air!

Re: Score!
I got one from the local yard and was thinking about using both speeds of the fan. I haven't found any two speed controllers available, but figured that if I installed two adjustable controllers, one for each speed with the thermostats set one higher than the other, should work. Anyone see a problem with this?

Re: Score!
No. There's all kinds of info on the net about setting up what you describe. I'm going simple with the high speed only.

Re: Score!
you could even use the furd's CCRM (constant control relay module) for both speeds. then you will have 2 extra relays for later upgrades.

Re: Score!
Got it installed today. It's close with a long water pump and the engine in the V8 position, but the temp no longer creeps up in stop and go traffic in 100 degree weather. It used to go up to 210 in those conditions with the flexolite electric fan, the lumpy camshaft, and headers. Now she sits at 180 all day long with the taurus fan. Finding 70+ amp relays is a trick unless you order online and wait. I happened to have some 70 amp relays but two of the spades on them were wider than normal spade connectors. Since I couldn't find the Bosch 75 amp relays talked about in most articles about this conversion, I simply trimmed the spades on one of the relays I already have. You can use a pair of 30/40 amp relays in parallel but that seems cheesy to me.
I bought a 150 amp marine type circuit breaker at Advance for $25 that is slicker'n snot. Also, Autozone has the replacement motor avalaible for $67 and it's an original seimens motor. So you could have a completely NEW setup for $105 plus the cost of the relay (mine was in hand), and the thing supposedly moves 4000+ cfm on high speed. Cool.
