Insurance $ ?

I currently paying about $28 a month, State Farm, for just liability insurance on my Blazer ('72 4wd,350 - nothing fancy by a long shot). They have been super easy to deal with in the past. The more work I do to it , the more I'm considering getting full coverage. How much do y'all pay for insurance & who with? Do you have an agreed replacement value or just go with whatever they say?

I checked with Grundy last week, and they only want $107 per year with a $5500 agreed value. But make you sign a paper that it won't be used for running errands, or driven to work... Mud riding isn't mentioned But it would suck to gave a legit accident & then get a bunch of run around trying to settle the claim.

Anyway, what's your experience & recommendations for good comp insurance?

Re: Insurance $ ?

I have full coverage on my 72 Jimmy for a stated value of $3K and it cost me $400 a year. The co. is Travelers Insur. I only keep full coverage on it in the summer so actually it only cost me maybe $150 to $175 a year.

Re: Insurance $ ?

I am also paying 28 a month for liability only on my beater through Allstate. Glad to hear we are in the same ballpark.

Re: Insurance $ ?

I pay about $50 a month for state farm full coverage, $500 and $1000 deductiable with a stated value coverage of $20,000. They claim if I have reciepts to back up the value it won't be an issue but lets hope I never have to find out.

Re: Insurance $ ?

I went with Hagerty when I got my truck last year. $212 annually for full coverage with a stated value of $12K. No deductible.

The insured vehicle has to be a "pleasure" vehicle. They make you provide a copy of current coverage on your daily driver. It also mentions "must be garaged, no off roading, no towing, blah blah blah."

Re: Insurance $ ?

I have STATE FARM INS. and had my agent write policies for my rigs.

"GQ" -> 15K Agreed value, vehicle can't be driven at all, $18 a YEAR

"Merlot" -> 5K Agreed value, drive anywhere but work, $150 a YEAR

Yes, I know that top one sounds unrealistic, but since it is a project
and is garage kept and never gets driven that is the policy he made.

BTW - I have unlimited towing, full coverage, rental, etc. on "Merlot"

Re: Insurance $ ?

I have full coverage classic car insurance through State Farm. We set the value at $8000 and it runs me $90 a year. I can only run it 2500 miles a year for pleasure and car shows/ cruise in events.

Re: Insurance $ ?

You may want to ask others in your state because they all vary. Most of the rates you guys are posting, I couldn't touch in Mi because we are a no fault state.

As far as I know, (not being an insurance man), if you get into an accident, your insurance covers all repairs, regardless of who's at fault. I may be wrong, but I think that is the way it works. All I do know is that our rates are too high.

Re: Insurance $ ?

chevyman is correct
a no fault state is just that you and your insurance co are responsible for all damage to your stuff regardless of fault
unless your insurance wants to seek litigation through the courts for excess damage its kinda bulls##t

I knew it was only a matter of time before the Insurance companies TOTALLY got their way.

Before long they will want to charge us $1,000/year and we won't be allowed to sit in the seat.
