Where To Buy?.............

I know somebody out there knows where I can get a complete "Seal Kit" for an NP205 Transfer Case for my '71. While I was home in Virginia, I found where my leak was. The seal for the output shaft for the front driveshaft. I called a local parts store Saturday morning and they told me I could pick one up after lunch time. I go up to get it and they said there computer was wrong, they would have to order it and have it by Monday. I flew back to Austria on Sunday so now my truck is sitting with no front shaft in it and no fluid in the transfer case. I didn't even get to drive my truck while I was home (that sucked).
Better yet, while I was driving my Z28 Camaro back from Richmond to Manassas (with my Mom in the car) I found out that the previous owner didn't have gear oil in the trans after it was to late. I made it to mile marker 120 on interstate 95. Had to get towed 58 miles home that cost me $220.00 dollars because my AAA membership had exspired. I spent 80% of my vacation putting a new trans in that car. What a great vacation that was. Sorry for the rant, just letting off some steam.

A couple pics of the Camaro.

Re: Where To Buy?.............

even if you had AAA, they typically only tow up to 20 miles then charge you money per mile over that.

With a premium account, they will tow up to 100 miles before they start charging. On interstate 95, it is $95.00 hook up and $4.00 per mile. AAA did pay the hook up fee.

Chuck,
I wish I had thought about calling you. I have frequint mind farts at my age.

Jamie72,
Thanks for the info. I will keep my eyes glued on ebay.

Re: Where To Buy?.............

Is the seal leaking or is the coupler sleeve grooved? The oil seal on the back of the adapter keeps the gear oil in the t-case. The oil seal on the front keeps the tranny fluid/manual gear oil in the tranny. The seals ride on the coupler sleeve like the front oil seal on your engine. Like the front of your engine, the coupler gets a groove which will leak past a fresh seal.

Re: Where To Buy?.............

I can get universal seal kits for all 205's locally. They run about $35-$45 if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the comment.
That is where mine is leaking to. It leakes tranny fluid real bad while driving it.

Musclerodz,
Are all the seals included in the kit?

It includes all the seals and gaskets required for the early and late 205's.
