drum brake 5 lug?

did they ever make a truck with drums and 5 lug wheels? I was told some guy here in my town had one, but I thought anything w/ 5 lug was a disc brake setup?

Re: drum brake 5 lug?

the smart @ss answer is yes....
all the 1/2 ton trucks in 71/72 had 5 lug drums... in back.
But the real answer is no. There were no 5 lug 4 wheel drum trucks made from GM.... maybe back in the turn of the century times... but nothing that we talk about in here.

Re: drum brake 5 lug?

Unless the previous owner/owners had the axles redrilled for 5 lugs drums all around, there weren't made that way.

Some years back you were limited on the after market wheels so some guys redrilled the axles to accept 5 lug wheels.

i can see re drilling the rear axles, but re drilling the front spindles? you'd have to drill new holes in your brake drums also, or do they make a 5 lug setup after market? i know they made a 6 lug disc setup after market.

Re: drum brake 5 lug?

older impalas have 5 lug drums as well as most other 50`s and early 60`s cars. I bet he used a front end off an old biscayne or something

Re: drum brake 5 lug?

and the bigger cars had the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. But the thing I wonder is if the car hub (even big pattern hubs) would go on a truck spindle.
Either way, it isn't original by any means
