Fun windshield story!!!

I had an appointment to get my windshield replaced this past Tuesday so I drove my wife's car to work. It had been raining pretty good all morning and they were running a few hours late. They showed up but didn't want to do it because it might start raining again. Wednesday I drove my wife's car to work again which makes her very happy. The next day they started to take the windshield out but realized they had the weatherstripping for the rear hatch. Today I drove my wife's car to work once again. They called and said they couldn't do it because of the rain, although I didn't see any, and asked me to come in to their shop after work. After about 45 min they cracked the windshield and showed me their work. They had it completely installed with the wrong weatherstripping and there was a 1 inch gap on on side of the windshield. So guess what? I'm driving my wife's car to work tomorrow and the best part is when I get home she is going to give me a ride to get my truck. That is of course assuming that they ordered the right weatherstripping.

Re: Fun windshield story!!!

I don't think these modern windshield guys know what to do with our trucks. I took the windshield out of my blazer and fixed the rust. Had a company coming to install in the driveway. Had to go get my kids from school. Leave the new weatherstripping on the hood. Come back and wait. No windshield guy. Call the office he said you need new weatherstripping. How about its on the hood and the tech isn' capable of doing it. I go with another company. I have to drive it to their shop in a rain storm with no windshield.(No garage at home) They take a long time to install. Then after hours of beating figure out the custom metal strip has to go into the bead first. Take it out and do it again. Turned into an all day project. Been there done that. Hope all goes well

Re: Fun windshield story!!!

Well there is a happy ending to this story. They replaced the windshield, fixed my drivers window( the glass had come out and the regulator had come off track, and gave me a lifetime warranty against cracks and leaks for as long as I own the truck.

I don't mind doing stuff myself but my insurance paid for everything with no deductible.
