Rebuilding Automatic shift column

Can anyone tell me how to remove the collar from the column so I can try and tighten the upper portion of the shift linkage. Mine is very sloppy and I'd like to get a crisper feel if possible. Thanks for your help.

sorry I can't help, but I had the same problem, and just bought a floor shifter. A lot more fun.
