Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

Just got my Coys and the fronts wouldn't sit flat against the hub. After talking to a few board members that have the wheels and saw how they overcame the situation, I had these spacers made. They space the centercaps out 1/4" so the wheel will bolt flat to the hub. I have an autocad drawing that I can email to anyone who would like it ( so they can have someone cut them out ). I had mine cut at work ( we have a laser ), I used 1/4" thick aluminum plate.

Cool Idea! Do you have a way to make the complete cap out of billet aluminum? Same as the original only taller.

I'd like a copy of that ACAD drawing ... I just might be able to get a few of these cut on a water jet this weekend.

PM sent with my email address.

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

You could have a set of Billet caps made ( we made some at my previous employer , for some cars being built in our area ). Trust me by the time you have someone model them up (3D) and the machine them, you can buy another set of wheels. In the 3 sets we made we had about $400.00 in each cap ! It can be done though. We made a lot of parts for these 2 cars.

How much would you charge to make 4 spacers?

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

I will get with my employeer tommorrow and see what we can sell them for.
I'll send cad files out tommorrow ( the file is on my computer at work ).
So far it looks like 5 sets ( a set being 4 spacers ). You will also need to get longer screws ( I'll figure out what is needed tommorrow and let everyone know. I am assuming the screws are Metric as the wheels are made in CHINA.
If anyonelse needs a set of copy of the file let me know.

Later

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

That's pretty sweet! A spacer like that would of let me run the bullet caps that came with my Cruzers. I ended up going with a knock off center instead. Didn't really bother me as the bullet caps were plastic! You would think when they charge over $700 a wheel you'd at least get a metal center cap!

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

Glad I could help, I just don't like grinding !!!!!! I am sanding the edges on mine to match the machined lip on the wheel. You can't tell it in the pic but it looks really good with the chrome cap then the spacer then the grey center.

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

i have 18"boss wheels on my truck that were there when i bought it and the centercaps wouldnt fit so i just had the outside portion of the center of the rotor turned on a lathe about a 1/4 inch and solved the problem for me but my caps snapped into the wheel not bolt on

Re: Got a fix for the Coys on our trucks

I had TT2's on the truck and didn't have any issues with the center caps and wheel fitment ( I am assuming just a difference in the center hubs of the 2 wheel manufacturers ). The 20's for the rear are supposed to be delivered today, so I hope to post pics with them mounted on the truck by the weekend.
As I said earlier I am going to talk to my boss today about making some sets to sell. I even sent Coys an email asking them if they were interested in gettting some to ship with the wheels for people with 67-72 Chevy trucks.
