dash options

I am planning on putting a Vintage Air type system on my 70swb. The cab is toast however, the dash is good. It had factory air. I have a cab from a 70lwb that I’ll put on the swb frame. It did not have factory air. So should I swap the dash or is there another option to vent the AC? Does someone have a template to cut the vent holes in the non AC dash? I’m not going for a stock restoration. Thanks.

Re: dash options

you can get templates to cut the AC holes from most aftermarket AC companies when you buy a system from them. I am sure a boardmember has the template and would be willing to share.

Re: dash options

It's easy to cut three holes. It's also easy to swap the dash, but easier just to cut new holes.

Re: dash options

i have a universal vintage air system in my truck & used the directions from the "factory-fit" system that they sell. the directions are on their website & you can print them off which includes the "full scale" sheet needed to tape to the dash & sides for the hole locations... hope this helps & good luck!!

Re: dash options

Thanks ya'll. I noticed there are ~45 spot welds on the leading edge of the dash, cutting holes sounds the way to go.

Re: dash options

if you have an A/C dash there... you can make your own templates pretty fast.
