Re: Check my combo,please

12.80 in da 1/4..just a wild azz guess though. I'm not familiar with that head casting or how much "work" has been done to them.
I think the gear, tire and cam are just about matched for the engines RPM band.
I would guess a real world 420 or so HP

Look at the old L88 427's with 12-1 CR a solid cam and dual quads made 430 HP.
Sounds like a fun combo.

Re: Check my combo,please

Need more head info and what kind of intake? If the heads flow enough I think you should run better then 420hp and 12.40s.

Check out this thread and post your info in there. More head and intake info would help though.

Re: Check my combo,please

My desktop Dyno Says about

562hp @5500 and 583ft-lb @ 4000

wasn't sure about the heads so i used Edelbrock performer heads for a baseline.

a much bigger set of heads like Victor CNC show about

605hp @ 6000 and 599 @ 4500

Re: Check my combo,please

If you noticed I said real world HP numbers. I have nothing against desk top dyno programs if you use them to track trends. It has been my experience...having built and dyno'd a few engines.... making over 1 HP per cubic inch is not as easy as magazines make it look. If it was the big 3 auto makers would of been doing it all along.
If you think about GM's 454 in the late 70' early 80's made barely over 240 HP.
My full race 540 males 840 HP...thats 1.55 hp per cubic inch
The 427 at 605 HP is 1.4x per cubic inch. Out of a pump gas truck engine?

Re: Check my combo,please

The desktop dynos are a bit on a high side usually. The best thing to use them for is to compare parts. Will changing the cam give you the results you want? That is what the desktop dynos are good for.
I have one of the better desktop dynos and I have every single bit of info for my motor and I know the motor doesn't put out what it says it should.

If the 427 listed above put down 500hp that would be a very good number.

yeah i thought that was a little high myself but i just checked it for a baseline, somewhere i heard that Desktop dynos are about 20 percent off on HP and 10 percent off on tourque but i'm not sure

Re: Check my combo,please

I would hope that you had a plan and an idea of what kind of power you were shooting for before you spent that kind of money on a serious motor like that.

Sick combo though. I hope you have a cage. Good Luck
