GM powered D100

Howdy fellas, here is my new Caddy powered D100. It has 500 big ones sitting under the hood. It has an unbelievable amount of torque. I paid $1,800 which in my area aint bad for a turnkey big block drag truck.

450+HP 500 Cadillac Engine
comp cam
shaft rockers
10 to 1 compression
Edelbrock intake
830 Holly
1 7/8" headers in to 4" exhaust
TH400 transmission with TCI converter and B&M shifter
31 spline, 9" rear, full spool, mosler axles
350 gears
Solid 12-second quarter truck
Pump gas
Street legal
Short bed

I had an old 1970 D200 short bed years ago that had the bullet proof slant 6 225 engine in it with a 3 speed on the tree transmission. Fun truck but it would not move very quick.
Do you have any more pictures to post?

Except for the 4" exhaust it is a mean sleeper.

I dig it! I bet it drives the Mopar guys absolutely nuts. Those Mopar guys are fun to mess with because they aren't too keen on anything but Mopar stuff, and seeing a Caddy motor in one of their beloved D-100s must spin them into the stratosphere.

The Cadillac engine is a GREAT choice for a truck. Massive torque, and much lighter than a BBC. Actually, not a whole lot heavier than a small block.

I could barely tell the difference between it and a big block mopar but some hardcore mopar guys will be in a tizzy when they see it. It is hard for me to get used to the dizzy being in the front. Other then that intake manifold being green it is a very clean swap and looks very stock-ish.

What you need to do is paint the manifold the correct colour, then take a photo of the engine bay, flip it and show the photo to some Chrysler guys, telling them that it is a "genuine Right Hand Drive big block truck". When they see the dissy on the "correct" side of the engine for a big block Chrysler, I bet most of them would believe you.

It will roast them. I launched it in 2nd last night and shifted at 5200 rpm. The truck never had traction. Just two black lines from start to finish. Launching in first gear is impossible it just sits in place in a cloud of smoke. I can't wait to get some 10" slicks out back and see how fast it is. I just hope the stock 31 spline axles can handle it when the tires actually stick. I have very little experience with ford 9" rears in high torque applications.
