A great way to start the day...

Just finished signing the closing papers on my home refi. Went from 6.625% to 5.25%, meaning I'll be saving about $165 a month!

Thanks for letting me share my excitement

Re: A great way to start the day...

Now if you can keep paying that 165.00 toward principal each month it will be even better.

Congrats on the re-fi. The only way I can get mine lower is an ARM, and that ain't going to happen.

You'll pay your house off YEARS ahead of time and you'll save enough money in interest to buy a whole 'nother truck, and I don't mean a cheap crappy one either...

Re: A great way to start the day...

Congrats. I did the same thing in 2002. Saved us over $50k in interest. That's a lot of toys. I went for the same note on less time though. The refinanace saved me 8 years and paid extra every month to save another 7 years. I ate a lot of boloney sandwiches to save money. Looking back, it was worth it knowing it should be paid off this year...I hope.

Re: A great way to start the day...

Thanks guys. I wish I was gonna be able to sink some of the money into my truck, but the truth is I really have to build up my savings account...I've got pretty good insurance (life on the wife, life/disability on me), and a decent little nest egg of a 401K, but our short term savings, aka emergency fund, is hurting. So that $165 a month is probably gonna get squirreled away, at least for a while...and then it will probably go towards principal. Maybe I'll live long enough to retire, and then I can drop big money on my truck...if we're not all driving hover cars by then.
