82 2wd Blazer from TH350 back to 700R4 INFO NEEDED

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I last posted here.
I've bought RDM1208's '82 Blazer 2wd (shown in the 2wd Blazer tread, it's the dark burgundy one with the '89 front and 20" wheels)
Right now I'm waiting for it to be delivered to me.

This Blazer came from the factory as a 305/700r4 unit.
The shop that customized it back in '96 put in a rebuilt seventies 350/350 combo.

What do I need to go back to using a 700r4 besides a transmission?
Can I use the torqueconverter that's in it now?
how about the cross-member.
Any other things I need to look at?
Would a 4l60e be an option or is that a bad idea? or an issue with the speedometer/cruise control connection.

Any other advice?

Thanks!

Erik

how about the cross-member. You should, but you need to see what they did to make the 350 work.
Any other things I need to look at? The lock up for your torqueconverter when its in 4th, if you do not lock it up you will over heat your trans.Would a 4l60e be an option or is that a bad idea? or an issue with the speedometer/cruise control connection. Yes, but you will have to buy a computer to run this trans.. lets see what some guys say on here first then I will jump in..
Any other advice?

Thanks!

Erik

Congrats on the purchase. that's a really sharp truck.

The TCC wiring may still be in place. If you are swapping the trans, I wouldn't take a chance with reusing the converter. I think the 350 and 700R4 converters are different anyhow.
