Re: auto to manual swap...is it hard

It depends on what you consider hard.

Find a donor and get: pedal assembly, get the clutch safety switch while your at it as well as any cruise control switches if you truck is equipped.

It's easier to remove if the steering column and dashboard are out of the way. There is also a 10mm bolt on the top that needs to be removed. You can see where it was in the picture below.

The hydraulic clutch (master cylinder, reservoir, actuating rod, hoses, slave cylinder and rod) parts you can decide if you want to use the donor or new. I would recommend new. Flywheel / disc / pressure plate, Transmission / bellhousing / dust cover, throwout bearing, pilot bearing. May need to change crossmember and driveshaft yoke as well as lengthen/shorten shaft but don't know for sure because I haven't attempted to do it yet, only started to gather parts.

Re: auto to manual swap...is it hard

Its not just the trans you have to swap. Because of the year of your truck, it has a 4l60e trans in it.

The ecm controls the trans.

You will need to swap the whole wiring harness and ecm from a 5 speed donor truck.

If you don't your ecm will just throw codes and retard the timing.

I know because I tried this swap with out the ecm on a 93 with out changing the ecm.
