What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

I have a vintage Weiand aluminum Tri-Power intake my dad used to run in the 60's on a 283 or 327 on a 56 Chevy. It's got the carbs and linkages and they are old and need reconditioning of course and cleaning up but it's in great shape. What's this worth? I was thinking of asking $450. Am I in the ball park?

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

By checking ebay I run across tri powers from the 50-60s with carbs from 200 all the way up to 1500.00 . The ones that run the numbers to get exact manufacture dates on intake and carbs were bringing the most.

Being aftermarket affects the value
Having all the linkage helps.
I would think 350 or so

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

what type of carbs affects values of vintage tri power most popular stromberg 97 followed by holley 94's rochester 2cg being the least desirable of the three

alot also depends if they are properly coverterted for tripower use many vintage systems i see they just bolted on 3regular carbs with out doing the conversions and they would work tho not as good as the correct converted systems

Here's a few pics. A guy offered my $350 so far. I'll likely take it unless someone else offers me more. I have it listed at $450.

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

ABOUT 6 OR 7 YEARS AGO I SOLD A WINTERS FOUNDRY (FACTORY GM) TRI-POWER SET UP COMPLETE WITH LINKAGE & THREE HOLLY 2 BARELLS THAT WERE NOTHING MORE THAN REBUILDABLE CORES FOR $850 ON EBAY. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE, BUT MAYBE IT'LL GIVE YOU SOME IDEA OF WHAT YOUR'S IS WORTH. IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR FINACIAL SITUATION, BUT I WOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO HOLD OUT FOR $450 OR $500. JOHN

Thanks. What's the easiest way to identify what brand of carbs?

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

I am certainly no expert but they sort of look like rochesters. There is no linkage on the center carb for the accelerator pump by the looks of it. Local guy has a set up on craigs list for $650 with supposedly rebuilt rochesters. I think he had it listed previously for $1500. It's for earlier small blocks with the oil fill/vent tube.

I say in this economy if I can walk away with $350 won't be too bad.

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

The two end carbs don't have chokes, so that's a positive sign toward it being a decent setup.

Kind of weird looking carbs. Look like they might be Zenith carbs. I would think you should get 4-500 dollars for it.

Well, it took about 4 hours to get the $350 offer; so we'll see what it brings locally. I told the guy I'd let him know...

Okay, I checked and they are Strombergs. Does this mean it's worth more or just a more preferable item?

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

Tri-powers can be crazy in value to the right person. I bought a 66 lemans that some guy was trying to turn into a GTO clone. He told me he had a GTO tri-power that he would through into the deal. Bought the car, 4 speed, 389 and tri-power w/ carbs for 2K. Even after disclosing in the ebay listing that the manifold was cracked in the center, I got $1,300 bucks for that thing and about crapped me pants!!!

sort of hard to see details in pic but the expensive strongbergs are the model that have a 97 cast in the fuel bowl// they are the ones that all the nostalga guys are looking for

theres actually a couple of different 97models theres a large 97 stamp and a small 97 stamped one

those type of airhorns are later carbs tho not the ultra primo that they are looking for they are still a premium carb

Re: What's it worth?--Tri Power Intake

Not sure on a value.. but thought I would toss in an FYI..
Those carbs are Stromberg's "WW" series .. used on GMC V6's and V12's ...
Studebaker V8's.. some Dodge small blocks from the late 50's to the 70's...
