LT1-4 in my 84?

okay lucky me i was able to score a Lt1 out of a Trans am with an aftermarket harness and computer. I was just wondering if it is at all possible to just drop it in and if the mounts will work.. if it wont where do i go about getting mounts? Fuel Pump? I tryed doing a search but i must suck cause i didnt come up with anything

Mounts are the same.Fuel system is going to be your challenge.Get a fuel tank and sending unit for an 87 with TBI.Buy a direct replacement pump for the TransAm.Then you need fuel lines made for high fuel press like 45 psi.The trans am has the fuel lines at rail coming out the driver side so take that in consideration. Some electric fans and your good to go.Oh iff you decide to put headers on your have to get some to fit your truck and for d-ports.Good Luck.

So i can use the exact same Motor mounts? Could I just take my Fuel pump out of the car i got the motor out of and put it into the 87+ tank? and i could easily use the fuel lines off the car.

Yes the motor mounts bolt to the block the same as any other small block Chevy. The LT1/LT4 are just the GenII small block. I don't see why you couldn't use the fuel pump out of the Trans Am the engine came out of........as long as you're sure it works.

Re: LT1-4 in my 84?

I would recommend using the trans that was in the Trans Am since it will provide the PCM with the speed sensor reading that it needs for proper operation. You can however get a pulse generator to add to the TH350, but they are $100+

IMO it would be nice to have the overdrive trans.

Re: LT1-4 in my 84?

The trans that was in it was a 6spd.. I found tonight its just an LT1 not 4. kinda dissapointed but it will be good. In your opinions what is an LT1 worth?
