55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

Here goes this is my 55 first series build so don't be in no big hurry to see it finished I'm giving my self 1 year to finish it I'm trying to do it in stages setting little goals as I go so every time I complete a task I feel like I have accomplished something so can stay motivated it is going on an S-10 frame I am using the E-Z chassis swap kit wich is already welded on the frame, and the cab floor has been replaced by Dave at the Hollister Road Co. in Houston Tx. who also did a thread on here about the Absolute floor pans I used So now I want to re-assemble the truck make sure everything fits like it should then tear it back apart and paint the frame and paint inside the cab and inner fenders and some where along the way find an engine and trans shooting for an Ls engine so stayed tuned and see how it goes and ps I'm just now figuring out how to post pics it's a slow process for me so cross your fingers an hope a picture shows up on this post this the day I bought it home

Re: 55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

Finally an update borrowed some wheels to try and see what fits got my 5.3 sitting in the other part of the shop. And _as Monkey was in town a couple weeks ago they bought a wrecked car from a buddy of mine for and up coming episode (not supposed to talk about it until after it's been on TV) I can say I don't have the same opinon about the show as I did before I got to hang out while filming. There for I will keep that opinon to my self until that episode comes out. But back to the truck I hope to work on it some next week

Re: 55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

Gonna keep an eye on this thread. Just picked up a 50 and looking for S10 frame now and looks like the E-Z is the best way to go. Did you use the 2" drop kit? Also have a 5.3 for mine..Keep us posted on info and pix!

Re: 55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

Cleaned up my 5.3 a little yesterday and wouldn't you know it my pressure washer wants to act up just wasn't putting out a lot of pressure, once I get that worked out I will finish it up. And 910506Chevy I used the 2 inch drop from E-Z nice kit I would change a few things if I where to go the S-10 route again

Re: 55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

I'm subscribed-since I'm doing the same build-but with AD engineering. I couldn't tell if you have a Chevy or GMC? Just curious. Those wheels look great on the truck.

I also noticed that Gas Monkey's logo is a Chimpanzee. I guess Gas Chimp didn't have the same ring to it. The show is mildly entertaining but it has gotten away from the fabrication (his fab guy is actually pretty talented) and into the verbal banter BS.

Re: 55-1 S-10 Chassis Swap

More parts, went to the wrecking yard yesterday to get the bolt that holds my gas tank in place, the old one was rusted and had to be cut off, and I noticed on the s 10 I was getting the bolt from, had a frame stiffiner and I looked further and it had a rear sway bar so that meant it had the ZQ8 suspension pakage, so I got the front springs, rear springs, and quick ratio steering box OH Yeah, so it should sit another inch or so lower then it does now, and a whole lot less than after market parts would go for

Well I wanna call it a set back and in a way it is, but it is a good excuse to get the motor I really would rather have, it will just take me a little longer to get my guages
