the good, bad, and the ugly

Good - got my 6.0 and 4l80 with wiring, accelerator, computers and all
Bad - My truck laid down on me bleeding trans fluid on the side of the road
The ugly - The driver who had to tow my truck to the transmission shop.

I thought this was going to be a good day today when the guys from the salvage yard calle to tell me that they were done pulling my engine, trans, accelerator, tach module, PCM, wiring harness, ac compressor, and all out of the 04 3/4 ton HD that was totalled with only 18K miles.

Still on a good day, I get it all strapped down on my trailer with a couple of tires under the tailshaft and the oil pan (poor boy air ride) and head over to the north side of fort worth to drop off the wiring harness to be modded to fit the 68.

The bad started yesterday and I didnt even know it. I dropped my truck off yesterday because the rear u joint was crying and started to vibrate a little. I had them go ahead and replace both u joints for good measure. I went and picked it up this morning and all seemed to be good, but then on the way back home with my new engine in tow BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM. There I was doing 65 MPH down the highway and the NEW u joint popped out of the cap and put my drive shaft in a big enough bind that it cracked the tailshaft on the transmission and left me on the side of the highway leaking trans fluid. I did have some oil soak rags in my toolbox to keep the fluid from leaking into the ground. I was pretty impressed sitting on my trailer when one of our local state troopers drove past at Mach 6 to pull over someone doing 5 MPH over the speed limit rather than pulling over to make sure everyone was ok or to MAYBE lend a helping hand.

The only thing to make me smile about the whole thing was thinking " at least its not a F$@d that towing my truck.

Re: the good, bad, and the ugly

I'd be talking to the shop that replaced the U joints about the damage.

Gotta love those DPS troopers! they can break 10 laws just to give a jaywalking citation all in the interest of public safety.

I havan't been down there since 1987, but it sounds like they've been taking lessons from the Nolanville Police. I remember the bit from 60 minutes about when they pulled the train over for speeding.

A actual train? How the heck can you stop a train, road block. It amazes me how some cops can act. Ive seen cops run a red light and other illegal things several times, i wonder what would happen if i pulled out my blue flashing light and my cop siren and pulled them over and .
