What's the best way to lube a speedo cable? I notice it's a two piece type and I can't figger out how to lube the top one.

Re: Speedo cable

You lube the upper cable the same way as you lube a single cable. You have to remove it from the back of the dash (IP) by pushing the clip in and pulling the cable out. disconnect it from the trans. Once disconnected, pull the core out and wipe it off. You can lube it with a heavy oil ( EOS, STP, MOTOR HONEY, ect ) or a good lithum grease. Don't use motor oil or ATF because when traveling forward the cable acts like a pump and pushes the oil into the speedo head. Found this out quite by accident when a customer came in complaining of a tranny oil leak on his foot. Came to find out the inner speedo adapter seal was shot. I made a greaser out of an old speedo adapter with a grease fitting screwed into it. If you make one be very careful how fast you pump the grease in, it will push the cable ends off and ruin the cable. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
