exhaust opinions wanted

I need new exhaust for my truck. I have a pretty much stock 350 and coil springs. I was thinking of exiting the pipes in front of the rear wheels. What muffler will have good sound yet not obnoxiously loud? Also does any one sell a kit for this or would it be cheaper to just take it to a custom shop?

thanks

For tailpipe exit infront of the rear wheels, I would reccomend a pair of Dynomax Super turbos, & run an H pipe in the system. You should have a nice mellow note, but a little "rumble". If you like a little louder, you can add a set of 3 x 18 chrome tips to the tailpipes. I prefer custom bent systems, but you might check with some of the vendors on the board, for "bolt on".....if you use aluminized pipe, it should last a good while. Good luck, crazyL

Do a search on this subject, there have been a lot of threads on exhaust lately. I think Summit sells a bolt in kit at a low price. Good luck, Scott

I second the search idea. There has been a few topics lately about exhaust.
LMC has a bolt on kit for stock trucks that I used and just got the glasspacks with it. If you want mellow though, you might want to try the other muffler that comes with it.
It was a little bit of a pain to install but I thought it was worth the time and money, especially with what the exhaust shops in this neck of the woods wanted to charge me. I'm sure others have used this kit, not sure what they have to say about it though. I bet it fits a little better or a little worse for others.

I heard Breeh's Magnaflows this last weekend. Sounded really nice but maybe a little too loud for ya. I didn't think it was obnoxious but you could hear him coming down the street. Had a very clean, tuned sound to it.

define obnoxiously loud

i've got full length Hedman Headers, 2 1/2" pipes and 40 series Flowmasters. the pipes go over the axle and are cut off with no exposed pipe showing. these pipes aren't quiet, but when the v-8's hitting a lick at idle, the sound can't be beat.
