MALO66 - 66 SWB BBW, Australian Built

Hi guys,

Thought I'd get my build up going... well, it's not much of a build up, yet.

So, it's a 66 C10, shortbox, big window, 350 Chev with a 700r4 behind it.

Plans are full Porterbuilt suspension, will be sorting it with Del to get a set of his Delmo Specials - 22x9 Centreline Smoothies with his sick touch for a centre cap, disc brakes front and rear, and drive the hell out of it. Paint the hell out of it too. Maybe a flat coat with a bit of sparkle some where. It's got Vintage Air and power steering so it'll be a car to just drive whenever I need to. The rails are perfect. Minor dings, scratches, so on. Oh, and a God awful bench seat to boot. That's the firs thing that'll be covered by a sheet or a blanket. Lol.

All the pics below that I have at present.

Keep an eye out, I'll have this bad boy by Christmas time and I'll be getting it on the ground in early 2014. Very excited.

Thanks.

Dan.

and Welcome aboard...
Solid looking truck, really like the color and I am a wee bit envious of whoever owns the 60 Impala in the background...

Have fun with your truck...

Welcome from the UK from a South African

As Don says, nice kolor/colour.

Yours has all the bits I would have wanted on my truck, in fact that And then some.

Will watch your build as long as you post loads of updates.

Re: MALO66 - 66 SWB BBW, Australian Built

Thanks guys. I've revised my inland freight because the company I used couldn't do anything for what they quoted, so on and so fourth.

Saying so, now going through the guys who are actually moving my vehicle from L.A. to Melbourne. Hopefully the inland freight is quicker seeing I'm paying a "market rate" so the project will start quicker than expected!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm getting excited more and more each day.

Nice looking truck mate. Curious if you are going to convert it to right hand drive? I am looking at buying one as well similar to your specs and live on the Gold Coast. don't think Queensland lets you bag them up here though. Hope it arrives safely.

Hi wildcard. No plans to convert it to RHD. ADRs state vehicles over 30 years and over you are not required to convert it. Same goes for indicators, as in red and not amber, and lap sash seat belts are o.k.

As for bagging and chassis mods in particular, I am unsure. You'd want to speak to an engineer. I know chassis mods, ie, notches, are frowned upon. However, dependant on the chassis and suspension that comes with your truck, like, trailing arm and so on, you might get away with bagging it.

Yeah they are pretty strict here in Queensland. I am happy with a lowered 66 with drop spindles etc. Will definitely be putting a power rack and pinion kit on it with big brakes. I am a Firie up here so really safety conscious, so will be putting full seat belts in mine.

I'd urge you to check out the mcgaughys 13" disc brake upgrade kit. You can get the front and rear kit in numerous stud patterns. Porterbuilt do a kit for power steering which involves a minor notch in the front of the rail. If you'd like to talk, shoot my a pm and I'll give you my email.

Yeah they seem good, also the Wilwoods. I are looking at fitting something like this:

http://www.unisteer.com/search_by_pr...inion_kit.html

May even look at transplanting the whole front end out of a late model suburban as I have been told it will just bolt in. Brakes, steering etc all bolt in upgrade. Not looking at doing anything till I actually go to the USA next year. I will buy one when I am there. I believe that there are also a couple of companies in Los Angleles that can do a right hand drive conversion at a very good price.
