454 into 1968 C20

Long time fan of this forum, first time posting. Getting ready to replace the tired small block 307 with a Big Block 454. Hopefully Saturday, and yes I will be replacing he valve covers and will be running headers.

Why a purple motor? Got a deal on it and was going to repaint it until friends gave me enough grief that I committed to it when rebuilding. Ran it in my one ton dump truck for the last few years and it made for plenty of power.

Already replaced gear box with quicker one from a 1977 (after a few close calls and unintentional stunt driving) and utilized steering wheel from a 1979 Corvette. Loved the results. Planning on overdrive transmission due to 4:57 Eaton rear, also planning front disc brakes and hydro boost before too long.

Many thanks to all of those folks whose postings have helped me and those who have contributed labor, fellowship, beer and cigars to the cause.

Mostly in. Will need to move transmission cross member back a bit and change to shorter valve covers to position engine correctly.
