Re: 427 bbc

I would post this in the engine section, they can give you a lot of detail, but my first take would be to find a mid eightys pickup with a big block get the dimensions and the engine perches and motor mounts from that donor truck but come to think of it that would be a 454 not a 427, better go the engine sections and see what they have to say. Re: 427 bbc

I have a 396 in my '65 GMC project. Not sure on the mounts. I'd have to look. Plenty of firewall clearance. I have Hooker Comps for a 70-72 big block C-10. Top of frame rail is trimmed some for clearance but it may have not been needed. It also had Super Comps on it. I have a dual electric fan/shroud setup from Derale mounted on an aluminum radiator. Its about all I could find that would fit. Not much clearance even with a short water pump. Hopefully it cools well enough. I moves serious air.
I am thinking that maybe the motor could be moved back towards the firewall a little with different mounts for more clearance up front. Then it would start getting tight with HEI and valve covers. I am sure someone else knows more.
