Remove s10 wheel and column

Hi
Have a 51 AD s10 swap and wanted to redo what was done and remove the cab. How do I remove the wheel and column? I have the nut & three screws off the wheel but not sure how to get the wheel off. Assuming a steering wheel puller?

If I wanted to pull out whole column, how do i remove it as it is a s10 column with turn signals and tilt.

Yes you can use a steering wheel puller for the wheel. the whole column, take the coupler loose under hood,bolts holding column to dash unplug your wires ,unless they are wired in then mark them first and cut them.If you are using column shifter will also have to disconnect it too.

would rathe rnot have to buy a puller so was looking for another way. Im also deciding whether I should just pull whole column as I hate the plastic s10 one. But that gets into an area im not familiar with..columns, ujoints, etc.

That is absolutely the wrong way to remove any steering wheel. Especially one on a collapsible column. It will break the plastic pins in the steering shaft before the wheel comes off.

The correct way is to use a steering wheel puller as a couple of guys mentioned. If you have an Autozone or O"reilly store close by you can most likely "borrow" one by paying for their loaner and then returning it for a refund when you are done with it.

I am assuming that you think a steering wheel puller would be more expensive than they are. Here's an example from EBay.

Either borrow, rent, or buy one but whatever you do, don't hammer on the column or wheel.

A guy could make his own if he had to.

HF has a kit that does steering wheel and lock plate for $35 . lock plate tool is to compress lockplate spring to remove snapring. Needed if replacing key cylinder when missing key.
