Holley carbs on our trucks

I seem to be finding alot of holley's on our years, what are they worth? This latest one I hauled hasn't run for 5 years, it has a 750 double pumper. Thanks for any help, Randy

Re: Holley carbs on our trucks

I would think a good 750 double pumper would be worth at least a $100. The 600 single feeds should be worth $50. Newer ones should be considerably more.

Agreed. DP's will almost always sell, but I've had 600 vac's that I literally couldn't give away. I've chunked a lot of them.

Next time you chuck one, chunk it my way I have had really good luck using holleys on street trucks which is probably why you see a lot of trucks with them.

See, I'm exactly the opposite. The Holley DP's with 4 corner idle circuits are the only Holley's I've ever really liked. You just give up too much power with a vacuum secondary Holley. I've seen dyno tests where DP's made 20 or more HP and run 2 or 3 tenths slower in the 1/4 than the same CFM vacuum secondary Holley. A DP will get similiar fuel mileage, ya know, as long as you keep your foot out of it! The only real "problem" with a DP is that people put them on weak engines with high gears and automatic transmissions and mash them to the floor and they bog. You can put a 600 DP on mild engine and make power than 750 vac AND get better mileage, if driven normally.

For this reason, I use tuned Q-jets on mild street driven vehicles and DP's on strong street/strip engines or race engines. There is just no place that I've seen that a vacuum secondary Holley gives me any advantage. The thing that makes them popular is that you can pull them straight out of the box and they run OK for most any engine with minimum tuning, and that's Ok with the majority of people.
