Flexplate question

Ok this may seem stupid but which flex plate is the correct one for a 67 with a 327 with the TH400.

It seems by looking it up that it is different than the other years and of course is hard to find.

Can anyone help with this?

Re: Flexplate question

Any 168 tooth flexplate for an early model 350 that has the neutral balance. Maybe a starter if you have the smaller 153 at the moment

That is what I thought but for some reason the 67 327 calls out a different model. I will pull it and take it in and compare the two I guess.

Thanks!

Re: Flexplate question

It probably calls out the smaller 153. You could even use a plate off of a 396 or a 402 same as the earlier 2 piece rear main seal 350

I guess maybe thats it. I am assuming I have the 168 because my starter has the bolts diagonal not straight across. It would be nice to be able to use a FRA-100 they are pretty in expensive.

Re: Flexplate question

If you had a powerglide , you will have the smaller 153 tooth flexplate , and will need to find a larger 168 tooth

Re: Flexplate question

Sooooo, you have a 327 with a th400 already? What was the point of this thread? to see if the factory put it together correctly?

The point is that the teeth on my flexplate are shot and I was about to just go get one for a standard 2pc rmc sbc then when I tried to look it up the ones I could find were for all years except the 67. At that point I came here to check to make sure before I got a new one.

Re: Flexplate question

AHH, got it,, just take your existing with you and match them up. I doubt very much that there would be any difference. Could be just an edit problem in the book also

Re: Flexplate question

you have a 2 piece rear main seal and staggered bolt holes on your starter so you need a Pioneer FRA-100 flexplate. Should be a common item at any parts store.

Autozone shows them for 20.00

O Reilly has it for 22.00

Re: Flexplate question

Compare the mounting holes for the TQ. There are some variations in them. Some TH400 use 6 bolts.
