Battery drain question

Something is slowing draining my battery. I thought it was a short in my fan control but I wonder if it's the fact I don't have a cigarette lighter. Could that be the culprit?

Re: Battery drain question

I had the same problem. Get you cheap test light at an auto parts store for like $5 and touch it to your negative terminal. If the light comes on you have a drain on your battery. I left my test light touching awhile I checked different wires until it went off and sure enough I found my problem. Its a good starting point.

Using a test light like 68 short step said, Try disconnecting the small feeder wires on your alternator first. Have you recently switched from idiot lights to gauges?

Re: Battery drain question

Haven't done anything really to it electrically yet but the P/O hacked a straight 6 into the truck, was a V-8. Did a few interesting things...

Re: Battery drain question

X2 on what Steve said. Mine was an alternator wiring problem. I had something hooked in with my regulator wire and it drained then the truck was off.
